Football Watch Party Drinks and Snacks: The Case Math for a Full House

Football season in Los Angeles means the same text message every Sunday: “what should I bring?” The host who answers “nothing, it is handled” is the host who ordered by the case. This is the planning post. How many drinks per person, how many bags of chips per quarter, what actually gets drunk at a watch party versus what sits in the cooler, and how to time a delivery so the cases land before kickoff. We wrote the party snack table guide for the table itself. This one is about the shopping list and the math.

Hosting this weekend? Build the order below in the shop and put your ZIP in the footer checker to see your delivery zone before you check out.

The per person math

Watch parties run about three and a half hours from pregame to the last drive. Here is what a typical adult goes through in that window, based on what our customers reorder:

  • Drinks: three cans per person, split roughly two soda or sparkling water to one “something else” (energy drink, non alcoholic beer, tea).
  • Chips: about four ounces per person over the game, which is two single serve bags or a tenth of a big party bowl.
  • Candy and sweets: one or two pieces per person, mostly in the second half.
  • Water: one bottle per person, and it gets ignored until the fourth quarter, then it all goes.

For 12 people that is 36 drinks, 24 single serve chip bags, a case of candy and a case of water. Round up. Nobody has ever complained that there was too much soda in the garage on Monday.

What actually gets drunk

Our reorder data is blunt. At a watch party the cola goes first, then the lemon lime, then the orange. Diet and zero sugar options go faster than hosts expect, so plan on a third of the soda being zero sugar. Non alcoholic beer is the newest addition and it moves, especially in mixed groups where some people are driving.

The snack rotation, by quarter

Chips go stale in an open bowl over three hours, so the trick is to open bags in waves instead of dumping everything at kickoff.

Single serve bags beat party size bags at a watch party. They stay fresh, nobody double dips, and the leftovers go into lunch boxes on Monday instead of the trash.

The 10 case free delivery order for 12 to 16 people

Ten cases in Zone 1 and delivery is free. This order covers a full house with leftovers:

  • Dr Pepper 36 pack
  • Sprite 35 pack
  • Coke Zero 24 pack
  • Canada Dry Ginger Ale 36 pack
  • Topo Chico Grapefruit 24 pack
  • Heineken 0.0 or Athletic 24 pack
  • Doritos Nacho Cheese 24 pack
  • Takis Fuego 20 pack
  • Smartfood White Cheddar 24 pack
  • Haribo Gold Bears 12 pack

That is 10 cases, well over a hundred drinks and more than seventy bags of snacks. Split with a neighbor who is co hosting and it is the cheapest party either of you has thrown.

Timing the delivery

Order early in the week for a Sunday game. Cases arrive at room temperature, and cans need about four hours in a fridge or forty five minutes buried in ice to get properly cold. The plan that works:

  • Order Monday or Tuesday.
  • Cases arrive midweek and go straight into the garage.
  • Saturday night, load the fridge with the first two cases.
  • Sunday morning, fill the tub with ice and the rest.

If you are ordering closer to the game, Zone 1 is within 30 miles of LA and Zone 2 is 30 to 50 miles. Your ZIP checker in the footer tells you which one you are in and what the minimum is before you add anything to the bag.

The cooler math

A standard 48 quart cooler holds about 60 cans with ice. A galvanized party tub holds around 40 cans and looks better on the patio. Plan on a 20 pound bag of ice per 50 cans, and start with the ice on the bottom, cans on top, then more ice. Cans chill in about 45 minutes that way. Glass bottles take closer to an hour and should go in first.

Keep the zero sugar and the non alcoholic beer at one end of the tub so people can find them without digging. That one detail saves a lot of “which one is the diet” over the course of an afternoon.

Frequently asked questions

How many drinks per person for a three hour party?

Three, plus a bottle of water. For a group that leans on zero sugar or sparkling water, keep the same total and change the mix.

Single serve bags or party size?

Single serve. They stay fresh over a long game, nobody shares a bowl, and leftovers are lunch box snacks.

How early should I order for a Sunday game?

Monday or Tuesday of that week is comfortable. Enter your ZIP in the footer checker to see your zone, minimum and delivery cost before you check out.

Can two households split one order?

Yes, and it is one of the most common ways people hit free delivery. Order to one address and divide the cases at the door.

Are prices current?

Prices were correct on the day of writing and can change. The product page always shows the current case price with CRV included.

Build the order in the shop, read the party snack table guide for the setup, and use code GET10OFF for 10 percent off a first order.
